The Asian Tsunami
Liz lives in Bangkok, but although she was on the coast on 26th December when
the Tsunami struck, she was on the East coast and was totally unaffected and new
nothing of it until reading about it. People in Bangkok at the time did
feel the earthquake. Jenny writes:
Members of our school community were actually there and one family lost
their twins in the disaster. The parents are still both in hospital, they
are members of our staff here at ISB. Another family who had been here at
ISB were all killed except for their small daughter.
I have included before and after photos to show the scale of the disaster.
Obviously there is a lot being done for the survivors; rebuilding their
lives and their communities. They need people to go there to keep the
economy running. Tourism is a major part of that economy.
