The Prisoner in the Tower
Mr Cahill was our teacher, for English. His being Irish seemed
appropriate. Anyways, we were waiting in class for his arrival with
the door open when two of our number quickly produced a screwdriver,
or possibly a penknife with such a blade, and removed the inner door
handle. This done they removed the rod between the inner
and outer
handles then refitted the inner handle. Mr Cahill duly came but one
pupil had not yet arrived. With the door shut our late pupil could not
get in and seeing his struggle our puzzled teacher went to assist,
only to find he could not get out.
Unfortunately I cannot remember how this incident was resolved.
