The Tower from Trinity Avenue

Trinity High School, Northampton

School Photos from 1974

Bill Rich Says:  These pictures of Trinity were taken by my brother Keith Rich on the 15th May 1974, which would have been a Wednesday.  I found them in a box of slides that he had asked me to scan in for him.

As I look at the pictures, the only obvious differences are the bike sheds in the playground and the new building on the site of the former cycle sheds. Other than that, the school looks as it did when I left in 1968.

I asked Keith about the person, who I assume was a teacher, walking across the playground. His reply was   “I think it may have been my 'A' Level English Lit teacher, Singleton in the picture. He was the best teacher I had at Trinity but was very scruffy, with long hair and big bushy sideburns. He was tall, but I seem to remember him being stocky. Still, in those days, anyone slightly bigger than anorexic was considered fat. There again, I may be completely wrong, as once it went to being an 'Upper' School, there was a huge turnover of staff.”
