David Phillips remembers him well and writes: Robert, who attended Trinity from 1965 to 1972, sadly died from cancer in August 2007. Bob had many friends from various walks of life, some from his school days, with whom he kept in touch over the years. Bob enjoyed the Trinity reunions of recent years, but was unable to attend in 2006 due to his illness. Pictures of Bob are included amongst others in the 2005 gallery.
After leaving school, Bob went to Bradford University and gained a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He then went on to do a post grad. course for teacher training at Leicester and taught Physics and Maths at Kingswood School in Corby for three years. He then went back into industry where he had an extremely successful career in telecommunications. A glowing tribute to Bob was paid at his funeral by a long-time work colleague. Bob was a keen sportsman, who enjoyed taking part in many kinds of sport, especially football and golf, which he played until just before his illness. Bob will be sadly missed and will be remembered by many as a true gentleman, who worked hard to achieve what he believed in, and as a real family man, devoted to his wife and children. The photo on the left shows Bob at the 2005 Trinity Tower Reunion. |
